I’ve been spending a lot of my free time these last few days playing around in Obsidian (see my previous post about getting back into using daily notes). It’s one of my favorite apps and I’m always looking for new and interesting use cases for it.
At the moment, it serves as the place where I write all of my blog posts because, even if you don’t use it for anything else, it’s just a really good markdown editor. I also use it to I store all my bookmarks (thanks to the Obsidian Web Clipper) and all of my notes.
The way I keep all of this organized is with the help of the Dataview plugin. Which is an absolutely fantastic tool for expanding the capabilities of the app. But for someone like me, who isn’t really a programmer, trying to write queries to get Dataview to show me what I’m looking for it can be a bit of a chore.
This is where the Basic Dataview Query Builder comes in handy. It’s a nice little tool that runs you through some basic questions and then spits out the code you need to paste into Obsidian at the end, problem solved. For someone like me who does mostly really simple stuff, it’s the perfect tool!
