Thoughts After (Almost) a Week With the New iPhone

It’s been almost a week since I got my new iPhone 17 Pro Max, and I figured I’d write a short little update about my experience with the new phone. I’ll make this short and sweet, but if you still don’t care to read everything I have to say the quick summary of my experience so far is that this is a really solid phone. No real surprise there.

  • The orange color is fantastic! I’m keeping mine without a case for now.
  • The more rounded corners on the edges and the unibody design makes the phone feel really good in the hand.
  • The battery life is great. I’m enjoying not having to worry so much about it anymore.
  • Having upgraded from a 14 Pro Max, I’ve gained a few new buttons. I’m still not quite sure what I want to do with the Action Button, I need to find some time to experiment with it. I haven’t used the camera button enough to form an opinion yet, though it is really nice for launching the camera app.
  • Seriously, that orange is really cool.
  • This isn’t specific to the phone but I’m still enjoying Liquid Glass.
  • The brighter screen has definitely been nice as we’ve had some great, sunny weather this week.

I haven’t had much of a chance to really try out the cameras yet, but next week I’m on vacation during which we’re traveling to Gothenburg for a few days followed by a few days trip to Prague, so I suspect I’m going to be taking a lot of photos. I’ll make sure to post some of them once I get back home.
