One Thing Leads to Another

I’ve been spending my free time these last few weeks learning Godot and trying to wrap my non-programmer brain around the ins and outs of GDscript. Progress has been decent so far. I’m not ready to show anything off just yet as I’m still experimenting and learning.

But as the title of this blog post suggests, I’ve been dragged onto a little bit of a side quest these last few days. My eventual goal is to create a roguelike, which means I’m going to need art, which means pixel art! So I’ve installed Aseprite again, which is software I haven’t touched in years, and started playing around.

Pixel art is an art form I’ve always loved, but the few times I’ve tried to make pixel art myself I’ve always bounced off it, because making good pixel art is really, really hard. But I’m giving it a shot again now, because eventually I’d like to create a nice tile set for my game, and because learning new things is good for the mind and soul. So stay tuned for some possible pixel art shenanigans in the future!
