I’ve Moved! (… My Website)

Every now and again this voice in the back of my head has been telling me that I should move my website away from Squarespace and over to a platform that I have more control over. And every time I’ve brushed the voice off, citing my usual arguments:

  • I chose Squarespace because it was a quick and simple solution for getting a website up and running without any hassle.
  • While it has its limitations, Squarespace really isn’t that bad.
  • It does what I need it to do, even though there are things I would like to see improved.
  • I really, really don’t want to deal with the massive job of porting everything over to a new place.

And that was all well and good until Squarespace announced that the company had been bought by some private equity firm. Something tells me this isn’t going to make things better over in Squarespace-land.

And soooo…

I’ve been spending the last few days doing the thing I’ve been trying to avoid for a while (though, in the long run, it’s definitely for the better), and I’ve been moving everything over to a WordPress site that I’m hosting with Krystal.Io.

The website is mostly up and running for now. But there is still a ton left to do before I’m satisfied. So, please excuse any broken links or missing images until I’m entirely done with setting things up.
