I Couldn’t Resist the Temptation of Obsidian Bases

I don’t normally jump on early access software features but the preview that the Obsidian team posted of the up-coming Bases feature was much to compelling for me to resist. So I got myself an Obsidian Catalyst license, and have started messing around with Bases in my Obsidian vault.

I’ve had today off work so I’ve spent most of the day trying to get some basic stuff set up and seeing what I could do with it, and so far I like it quite a lot.

The feature is still very early in its development so I’m sure there will be quite a few changes and improvements in the coming months. Just from playing around with it today Bases have already replaced almost all of my Dataview needs, and if not for a few minor use cases I could probably get rid of the Dataview plugin from my vault entirely.

I’m really looking forward to seeing what Bases will look like as they continue development. This is definitely one of the most exciting features that they’ve added to Obsidian in a while.
