Yesterday I cancelled my Adobe subscription. I don’t know when I first started paying Adobe for the privilege to use their various apps. I don’t want to know. It’s been a while. And a lot of money.
This is not part of some grand “fuck Adobe”-stance on my part (although, for what it’s worth, fuck Adobe). If not for the fact that money is a little tight these days I probably would have kept it going. But with winter at out doorstep and Christmas right around the corner I need to save money where I can.
I like Photoshop. It’s bloated to all hell with all kinds of features that I have no use for, but it is still best in class when it comes to image editing. But now that the Affinity suite is free to use, I have to try and make that work for me. I’ve not used Affinity a whole lot yet, so it is still a little unfamiliar to me but it seems good. Once I get an better handle of how it works I’m sure I’ll be more than happy to stick with it.
No longer will I have to groan and roll my eyes when I see that Adobe has once again taken money out of my bank account. At least for now. We’ll have to see how things evolve with Affinity in the future.
