I wrote a note the other day about how I’d been dealing with a stomach bug (probably food poisoning) and was starting to feel like I was getting back to normal. Well, turns out I was a little premature in my assessment, but today I am most definitely back to feeling like my usual self.
I first started feeling off early in the morning on the 16th but I figured it’d be 24 hours of feeling like absolute shit and then I’d be pretty much good to go after that. Six days later it turns out that I was very much wrong in that assessment as well. Some might argue there is a pattern here, but I remain unconvinced.
But I’m good now though! Which is great. The one thing that is really bumming me out this time around is that I was in such a great place with my weightlifting before I got sick. I was seeing progress on my lifts almost every week and I’ve been feeling really, really good.
I haven’t stepped on a scale (because we don’t own one) yet, but I know I’ve lost quite a bit of weight over the last week and as a result quite a bit of strength. My appetite has taken a serious blow as well. Now, I know I’ll work back to where I was quite quickly all things considered, but it still is taking a toll on my motivation right now.
As always, discipline is the key in times like these when motivation is lacking. I’ll have my lifts back up again in short order.
